Liptovský Svätý Michal is situated to the east of Ružomberok above the mouth of Lupcianka into Váh at an altitude of 525 meters above the see level nearby the dam Liptovská Mara in the western part of the Liptov basin with the view of the well known Slovak mountain ranges – Choc Mountains, Big Fatra, High and Low Tatras. The nearby surroundings of the township are framed by fields and meadows. The fields are intensively used for agricultural purposes. On the meadows there are growing grasses that can be used as valuable feedstuff such as oat grass (Arrhenatherum elatious), meadow foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis), sweet vernal-grass (Anthoxanthum odoratum) and herbs. Typical plant abundance complement the following spieces: meadow buttercup (tall buttercup) (Ranunculus acris), ribgrass (Plantago lanceolata), moonflower (moon-daisy, oxeye daisy) (Leucanthemum vulgare). Some herbaceous (medicinal) plants: common agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria), eyebright (euphrasia, euphrasy) Rostkov (Euphrasia rostkoviania), thyme (Thymus serpyllum). Close to the streams grows the willow tree (Salix). The groves surrounded by unforested areas are comprised mainly of common hazel (Corylus avellana), bramble rose (Briar-rose) (Rosa canina) and black elder (Sambucus nigra). The township is adorned by monumental several tens of years growing horse chestnuts (Aesculus) and lime-trees (Tilia). In the vicinity of the township one can find common snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis) which is in the Liptov region a relatively rare plant. Workshop material Lecturer
